“그런데 뱀은 여호와 하나님이 지으신 들짐승 중에 가장 간교하니라 뱀이 여자에게 물어 이르되 하나님이 참으로 너희에게 동산 모든 나무의 열매를 먹지 말라 하시더냐? 여자가 뱀에게 말하되 동산 나무의 열매를 우리가 먹을 수 있으나 동산 중앙에 있는 나무의 열매는 하나님의 말씀에 너희는 먹지도 말고 만지지도 말라 너희가 죽을까 하노라 하셨느니라. 뱀이 여자에게 이르되 너희가 결코 죽지 아니하리라. 너희가 그것을 먹는 날에는 너희 눈이 밝아져 하나님과 같이 되어 선악을 알 줄 하나님이 아심이니라. 여자가 그 나무를 본즉 먹음직도 하고 보암직도 하고 지혜롭게 할 만큼 탐스럽기도 한 나무인지라 여자가 그 열매를 따먹고 자기와 함께 있는 남편에게도 주매 그도 먹은지라. 이에 그들의 눈이 밝아져 자기들이 벗은 줄을 알고 무화과나무 잎을 엮어 치마로 삼았더라“. (창세기 3:1-7)
거짓말은 진실에서 빗나간 것입니다. 명백한 거짓말은 누구나 쉽게 구별 할 수 있습니다. 뱀이 명백한 거짓말을했다면 이브는 속지 않았을 것입니다. 그러나 뱀은 진실에서 완전히 빗나간 거짓말을 하지는 않았습니다. 뱀이 여자에게 물었습니다. “하나님이 참으로 너희에게 동산 모든 나무의 열매를 먹지 말라 하시더냐?” (창세 3 : 1) 하나님께서는 그 사람에게 “동산 각종 나무의 열매는 네가 임의로 먹되 선악을 알게 하는 나무의 열매는 먹지 말라 네가 먹는 날에는 반드시 죽으리라 하시니라.” (창세기 2 : 16-17). 뱀이 그의 질문에서 하나님의 말씀을 인용 한 방식에는 하나님이 실제로 말씀하신 것과 동일한 단어가 많이 포함되어 있습니다. 뱀이 인용 한 10 개의 단어 중 단 한 단어만 왜곡되었습니다. 정관사 “the”만 “any”로 전환됩니다. 뱀의 질문은 진리 90 %와 비진리 10 %로 구성되어 있습니다.
일상 생활에서 그 정도의 진리는 진리로 간주 될 수 있습니다. 뱀은 그렇게 이브를 올무로 유인합니다. 파멸로 인도하는 모든 거짓말은 상당한 진실을 담고 있습니다. 더군다나 여기서 뱀은 질문이라는 형식으로 자신의 죄악을 변명할 여지를 남겨놓습니다. 뱀, 실제로 뱀의 중심에 있던 사탄은 이것을 알고있었습니다. 그는 거짓말의 명수었습니다.
한 남자가 어떤 사람에게 상당한 돈을 빌려주었습니다. 그러나 그 사람은 약속 된 날짜에 빚을 갚지 않았습니다. 돈을 빌려준 사람은 그에게 빚을 갚으라고 촉구했습니다. 그러나 그는 조만간 갚겠다고 말만 하지 실제로 빚을 갚지는 않았습니다. 돈을 빌려준 사람은 화가 났습니다. 그는 채무자에게 가서 즉시 빚을 갚을 것을 요청했습니다. 그는 그렇지 않다면 그를 법정으로 데려 갈 것이라고 경고했습니다. 채무자는 시간을 좀 더 주면 이달 말까지 갚겠다고 애원했습니다. 그는 서면 약속 어음을 요청했고 채무자는 그것을 작성하고 서명했습니다. “이달 말까지 빚을 갚기 위해 최선을 다하겠습니다.” 그는 월말까지 기다렸지만 채무자는 그에게 갚지 않았습니다. 돈을 빌려준 사람은 그를 거짓말 쟁이라고 불렀습니다. 하지만 채무자는 거짓말을하지 않았다고 주장했습니다. 그는 갚기 위해 모든 노력을 다했다고 말합니다. 그는 갚기위해 최선을 다하겠다고 해지, 갚겠다고 하지 않았다는 것입니다. 그 약속어음은 명백한 거짓말은 아니지만 그 상황안에서 의도는 거짓말이었습니다. 이것이 진실과 거짓말의 혼합입니다.
부분적인 거짓말은 거짓말입니다. 100% 진실이 아닌말은 거짓말입니다. 야고보 사도는 말합니다. “누구든지 온 율법을 지키다가 그 하나를 범하면 모두 범한 자가 되나니 (약2:10). 부분적인 거짓말을 알아 차리지 못하면 속을 수 있습니다. 적을 물리 치고 싶다면 적을 알아야합니다. 속고 싶지 않다면 거짓말의 본질을 이해해야합니다. 우리는 하나님의 말씀을 공부할 때 부분적인 거짓말이 우리를 속이지 않도록 주의 해야 합니다.
2. Lie
A lie is a deviation from the truth. Everyone can discern the obvious lie from the truth. Eve might not have been deceived if the serpent told an obvious lie. But the serpent did not tell a full lie. The serpent asked the woman. “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” (Genesis 3:1) But God said to the man that “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.” (Genesis 2:16-17). The way the serpent cited God’s words in his question contains many of the same words that God had really said. Only one word was perverted out of 10 words the serpent cited. Only a definite article “the” is switched with “any”. The serpent’s question consists of 90% truth and 10% untruth.
In our everyday lives, that much truth may be regarded as truth. However, the fact is that every lie contains considerable truth. The serpent, actually Satan that was at the heart of the serpent, knew this. He was the master of the lie.
A man loaned a considerable amount of money to a person. But the debtor did not repay his debt on the promised date. The creditor urged him to repay his debt. However, the debtor used to say he would repay it soon, but he actually did not pay back his debt. The creditor got angry. He went to the debtor and asked to pay off his debt right away. He warned him, if not, he would take him to the court. The debtor pleaded if he gave him a little more time, he would repay it by the end of the month. The creditor asked for a written promissory note, and the debtor wrote it and sign on it. “I will make every effort to repay the debt by the end of the month.” The creditor waited until the end of the month, but the debtor didn’t pay him back. The creditor called him a liar. But the debtor argued that he didn’t lie. He said he did make every effort to repay. He said he didn’t promise to pay but to make an effort to pay. This is not an obvious lie but the intention is a lie in the context.
It is a lie that is not 100% truth. James says that “For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it” (James 2:10). If we don’t notice the partial lie, we may be deceived. If we want to defeat an enemy, we must know the enemy. If we don’t want to be deceived, we must understand the nature of lies. We should not allow any partial lies to infect us as we study the words of God. †
